About Us

Who we are and what we stand for

Our Story

Swindon Kannada Shaale is a volunteer-run community language school dedicated to teaching the Kannada language and culture to children and adults living in the UK. Founded by a passionate group of Kannada-speaking families, our mission is to ensure that future generations stay connected to their mother tongue and cultural heritage.

We believe that language is the bridge to culture, identity and community. By learning Kannada, our students not only gain a new skill but also deepen their connection to Karnataka's rich history, literature and traditions.

About Kannada Language

Kannada (ಕನ್ನಡ) is one of the oldest languages in the world, with a rich literary tradition spanning over 2,500 years and and inscriptions from the 5th century AD. It is the official language of Karnataka, India, and is spoken by over 55 million people worldwide.

Kannada has been recognised as a Classical Language by the Government of India, a status reserved for languages with a rich heritage and independent literary tradition.

🎯 Our Mission
